The following prizes are up for grabs...

£1000 to the winning school.
£500 to the school of the runners up.
£250 to the school who get third place.

All prize money must be spent on another school climate change project.

So what's the Challenge?

Groundwork Pennine Lancashire and United Utilities are challenging schools to make a real difference to climate change by designing an innovative way to reduce their school's global footprint.

Simply design and implement a project to help reduce your school's global footprint and tell us how you did it.  Don't forget to measure your school's footprint before you start and once you have finished so that you can see the difference!

Get started!

Check out the judging criteria, see who has won in the past, and download some helpful hints and tips on creating the perfect project.

1.    Method - Choose a method to calculate your school's global footprint.  See the ‘How do I calculate my school's global footprint?' section below.
2.    Plan - Set targets to reduce your school's global footprint and plan how you will reach these.
3.    Do - Carry out your project.
4.    Check - Did you reach your targets?  What was successful and what could you have done better?
5.    Act - What did you learn about reducing your school's global footprint?  How are you going to spread the word to help other school's reduce their footprint?
6.    Plan - What footprint reducing project would you spend the prize money on if you won?

Record it!

Don't forget to keep notes, records, photos, and / or film clips about your project as you go along.  These will help you answer the questions on the competition Entry Form.
