Bright Sparks Awarded at Lancashire Schools' Awards

More than 100 pupils and teachers arrived at Mytton Fold Hotel in Whalley this week for the It's Our Planet Awards 2011.  Primary and secondary schools from across Lancashire attended the glittering Awards Ceremony, complete with a two course meal and a guest appearance by scientists from the ‘Flash Bang Science' mobile laboratory.

Kids Prove It's Cool To Be Green

Schools are being invited to compete for a first prize of £1000 in a competition to teach children about reducing their carbon footprint. The competition will be launched on World Environment Day (5th June) and will also offer prizes of £500 and £250 for two runners up.

Schools Go Bananas

A tropical island made entirely from fairtrade bananas was the winning entry in a competition run by the environmental charity Groundwork Pennine Lancashire. The picture included boats, dolphins, a palm tree and even the fairtrade logo and was constructed by pupils from Whittle-le-Woods Primary School in Chorley.
